Simon Schama's Power of Art

"This is not a series about things that hang on walls, it is not about decor or prettiness. It is a series about the force, the need, the passion of art
...the power of art."
Here, we watch BBC documentary "Power of Art" where Simon Schama, a respectable English art historian, introduces his choice of artists and artworks and tells us why art matters.
It may be quite challenging to perfectly understand the whole documentary, because of the list of vocabularies and expressions that we are not that familiar with.
In order to help your understanding, every week, a voluntary presenter is asked to pre-watch 20 minutes of the video, and give other participants presentations on basic knowledge of what we're going to watch and introduce new terminologies, etc.
Then we watch the documentary, and discuss on what we learn and what we feel.
The following is the program schedule for this semester.
- Van Gogh (9/16, 9/23, 9/30)
- Picasso (10/7, 10/28, 11/11)
- Rothko (11/18, 11/25, 12/2)
Power of Art is on every Wednesday, 10:00pm.

Simon Schma's Power of Art - Rothko (~10min)
